I Was Targeted by AI Fraud: Five Survivors Share Real Accounts of AI Face-Swapping, Voice Cloning, and Script-Based Scams ↗

Huxiu reports on five ordinary individuals from different backgrounds who encountered new types of AI-driven fraud: one person's photo was used for AI face-swapping to impersonate an overseas executive and induce investment; another had their friend's identity impersonated via AI voice cloning in game voice chats to borrow money; a third saw through an AI face-swap scam by requesting the other party to turn their head during a video call; a fourth tested that financial direct messages were AI-generated using a fictional "mooncake concept stock"; and yet another received an AI face-swapped extortion letter sent to their workplace. All cases demonstrate that AI has not replaced traditional scams but rather strengthened the stages of identity disguise, emotional manipulation, and trust breakthrough.

Joint Paper by Tsinghua University and Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications Reveals Structural Security Risks in Discrete Diffusion Vision-Language Models ↗

Researchers from Tsinghua University and Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications published a paper at EMNLP'26, pointing out that discrete diffusion vision-language models (dVLMs) have new types of security vulnerabilities due to their cross-step condition propagation mechanism. They proposed a white-box visual jailbreak attack method called DIVA; this method achieves up to 69.07% attack success rate against models such as LLaDA-V, MMaDA, and LLaDA2.0-Uni on the HADES and VLSBench benchmarks through cross-modal intent confusion and diffusion-aware optimization. The paper emphasizes that it is a mechanistic study, does not provide directly deployable attack scripts, and aims to promote targeted defense design.

Nick Cammarata and the Goodfire Team Publish Long-Form Article "Neural Networks Were Already 'Clean'" ↗

Nick Cammarata and the Goodfire team published a long-form article titled "Neural Networks Were Already 'Clean'," stating that approximately 90% of neurons have one primary task, with most exhibiting traceable computational division of labor. The team verified the reliability of explanations through methods such as circuit diagram mapping, neuron ablation experiments, and Agent-generated test samples, finding that some explanations successfully predicted model responses to new inputs. The research was conducted based on a 32 billion parameter language model and visual models, emphasizing that improvements in tools and evolution in model structure jointly enhanced interpretability.

Mining Companies Face Hurdles in AI Transition: MARA Drops Nearly 30% in Three Weeks, Industry Short-Term Funding Gap Reaches $50 Billion ↗

In October 2026, US-listed mining company MARA Holdings saw its stock price drop nearly 30% over three weeks. Cipher Digital plunged 15% intraday after issuing $850 million in convertible bonds, primarily due to a 36% cost overrun on its Barber Lake AI data center project. A VanEck report indicated that the industry's short-term funding gap is approximately $50 billion, with actual delivered computing power accounting for only 25% of contracted capacity. Binance announced it would shut down its mining pool in November; persistent losses in mining during the first half of the year have forced miners to pivot to AI. Bitdeer has liquidated its Bitcoin holdings and focused on AI infrastructure, achieving an annualized ARR of approximately $69 million.

AWS Releases AI Agent Quality Evaluation Framework for Production Environments ↗

The AWS SMGS team built a nine-stage AI agent evaluation framework covering the full lifecycle based on Amazon Bedrock AgentCore. It includes Foundation (defining quality), Experiment (version comparison), Merge (CI regression gate), Gate (CD quality gate), Canary (gray-scale monitoring), Adversary (security adversarial testing), Drift (drift detection), Pulse (real-time observability), and Feedback Loop (automatic optimization). The framework supports three levels of evaluation: tool-level, agent-level, and multi-agent level. It defines six types of accuracy failure modes (such as metric swap, wrong period, pure hallucination) and combines the use of AgentCore built-in evaluators, custom evaluators, third-party evaluators (DeepEval/AutoEval), and deterministic evaluators. All evaluation results are integrated with CloudWatch, S3, and Amazon Quick to achieve observability and closed-loop optimization.
